Snacking and binging on junk food sounds deliciously fun and all but is super fattening and unhealthy. Gaining weight would be good if it comes from healthy eating but junk does no good to the body. With unnecessary fat comes unnecessary health problems as well so junk snacking is a big NO!

Snacking isn’t all bad; it is one efficient way to keep blood glucose level stable. Snacking also is of great help in curbing your appetite to prevent overeating during the next meal. Snacking is also effective for those who for some reason or illness cannot eat full meals.

Snacking obviously has too many benefits to give up on it but no one ever said healthy snacking was prohibited too. One might feel a dip in their energy level and need a bite or two as a remedy and since junk snacking won’t do any good so what replaces that? Healthy snacking duh!

Healthy snacking means planning out snack timing just as you plan out meals. Here is a 3D representation to help you plan it out (see what we did there):

  1. Decide at what time snacking would be perfect so it helps with your energy level.
  2. Determine if you’re actually hungry or you’re bored, sad, stressed, tired, etc.
  3. Distinguish which healthy snacks would you prefer and how you can make them more enjoyable.

Healthy snacks such as fruits, nuts and even vegetables are super beneficial and add extra nutrients in daily diet. And yes some vegetables too can be included as great snacks; take green vegetables as an example.

Impala Greens has in store Hass Avocados, Sugar Snaps, Snow Peas and Green beans which translate into the most enjoyable greens to snack on. These all year round, hand-picked delicacies that serve to be the most delicious snacks even in their raw form but not all of us like the green vegetables in their raw form here is how Impala Greens suggests a tasty twist to the plain old greens:

  • Quick steam: steam your green vegies in the microwave; add a small amount of water, garlic, butter, lemon juice, and any low-fat dressing of your choice to enjoy a burst of flavor in your newly made healthy snack.
  • Sweet tooth remedy: if you’re a sweet tooth and like to snack on sweets you can just sauté the vegies topped in honey and if you like add roasted peanuts for crunch and texture.
  • Roasted: a light drizzle of olive oil, a light sprinkle of salt and pepper and roast until crisp-tender and lightly browned on the edges, top it with pine nuts and you have a top-notch healthy snack.
  • Bowl of spaghetti: if you’re craving the spaghetti, get whole wheat noodles, combine it with sun dried tomatoes, garlic and red pepper flakes and your choice of greens and voila!
  • Sauce it up: boil your greens and sauce it up with your favorite sauces, simple and tasty.

Impala Greens basically gives you a snack, ideas to elevate your snack and assurance to your mother that you’re eating healthy.
